# Analytics overview and methodology

Lantern Analytics connects AI visibility, citations, prompts, traffic, and search performance without treating them as the same metric.

## AI visibility

AI visibility measures how the brand appears across the tracked prompt cohort and configured providers. It is not website traffic, revenue, or a guarantee of future citation.

## Citations

Citations show which owned, competitor, and independent sources were referenced in tracked AI answers.

## Prompt analysis

Prompt analysis shows the answer and mention patterns associated with individual tracked questions.

## Traffic

Traffic uses connected Google Analytics data. It is not populated by an AI visibility run.

## Search Console

Search Console uses the connected Google property for queries, pages, clicks, impressions, CTR, and position. It is not populated by an AI visibility run.

## Comparing periods

Always confirm the date range, prompt cohort, provider set, and connected-data availability before interpreting movement. Changes in the tracked cohort can affect comparability.
